Call for participation in KAKEN-HI research project about critical thinking

Dear, CT SIG colleagues,

My name is Dennis Koyama, and I am conducting interviews about critical thinking in Japanese university courses. The main purpose of the research project is to answer the following broadly defined research questions:

RQ1) How do teachers define and teach critical thinking?

RQ2) How is critical thinking assessed?

RQ3) How does critical thinking take place in specific teaching contexts?

If you are interested in participating in a 30-minute, recorded Zoom interview about your thoughts on critical thinking, please contact me dkoyama@sophia.ac.jp to set up an appointment. I’m aiming for at least 20 interviews, and I have about half that now. For planning purposes, I’m trying to collect as many interviews as I can before Golden Week, so nearly anytime between now and then would be great.

Just to note, all collected information will be anonymized, and I will only use transcriptions of our interview—and not the actual recording—in any publications or presentations made about this project. Participation is voluntary, so I completely understand if you don’t want to participate but would really appreciate if you do.

Thank you for considering my request, and do let me know if you have any questions or concerns you’d like answered before deciding to participate.

Best regards,

Dennis Koyama
